Next week’s spread is all about Will, Balance, and Generative Power.
As it was done with an all Major’s style deck, it refers to the big, important trends and energies that impact our lives. It does not offer the fine details of day to day life, rather the big picture, powerful energies that impact us spiritually. Things that we should pay attention to if we seek spiritual growth.
I read Strength and Temperance, as they are facing into each other as a single message.
That in the things we must face and do over the next week, we meet them head on, using all of our will, power, and energy to attack that which challenges us and that we need to accomplish. But that while we work hard to do what we need to do, we don’t forget to maintain balance in our lives.
When working, when meeting challenges, we should give it all that we have. Remembering however that work and doing isn’t all that there is to life. We must also rest, relax, rejuvenate, and make sure that we are taking care of ourselves, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
We need to work, doing so is necessary for life. We need to struggle, for such is necessary for growth. But we must also always balance our lives. We must play, we must enjoy ourselves, and we must give ourselves permission to just ‘be.’
Ultimately that is the message of Strength and Temperance. We must work and strive, for we are physical beings in a material world, but we can’t allow ourselves to forget that we are also spiritual beings, and both of these fundamental aspects must be balanced.
The Empress symbolizes a result. That if we are able to maintain this necessary balance between the physical and the spiritual, if we work hard, but don’t allow work to dominate our lives. That if we embrace and explore our emotional and spiritual lives, but not neglect our duties to provide for ourselves and those dependent upon us. If we can balance these two aspects, we will experience growth. Material growth, but much more importantly, spiritual growth.
This spread was done using the Infinite Arcana Tarot by Travis Lawrence. It is a Major Arcana only deck that I received last week, and have found to be quite superb. I plan on posting a review of it here on The Keystone soon. If you would like your own copy, you can purchase it directly from the artist here:
I will also, as a part of the upcoming review, explain some ways that a Major’s only deck can be used.
The spread pictured above was an ‘open spread’ by which I mean that there are no set card positions. The cards are simply laid out, and the significance of the position in which each was placed is determined after the placement.
In this spread, as Strength and Temperance were next to each other, and facing each other, I read them as symbolizing a single message. As The Empress was to the side, and not facing the other two cards, I read it as symbolizing the result if the first message was heeded.
Thank you for reading today’s post. I hope that you found some value within it.
