This evening, I’m hosting a meeting at my house. Nothing fancy. Just hot dogs on the grill, a fair amount of whiskey, and lots of talking. Talking over plans for our little group, things we want to do in the next twelve months.
The house is currently empty, my guests won’t be arriving for a little while yet, it’s too darn hot to go outside under the afternoon sun, so what to do…
Why not pull some cards!
How will this meeting go?
I didn’t use a spread. Just a single card to indicate how the meeting will go, with a couple of additional cards to add some depth.
I hope that makes some sense. What I’m trying to communicate is that the Six of Cups is the answer to the question, the other two are simply a bit of spice I’ve thrown on top. Salt and pepper if you will.
That Six of Cups makes a lot of sense to me. We all like each other, the sun is shining, and everyone seems to enjoy a good grilled hot dog on occasion! Plus, I think the sense of newness or youth reflected in the card makes sense as well. We’ll be under new leadership for the next twelve months, and that should prove to be a positive as our group moves forward.
The Seven of Swords is interesting here, because I usually view its symbolism in a negative context. Theft, deception, fraud, getting away with something, and the like. But, I don’t imagine, given who is coming, that anyone will be stealing my wallet. Waite wrote that one possible meaning of the Seven of Swords was ‘confidence.’ Here, I’m going with confidence. We are, I believe, going to be wildly successful over the next year.
But, as long as I’m on the Seven of Swords, isn’t it interesting that Waite himself couldn’t really decide a proper meaning for it, given that the meanings he was familiar with were all over the spectrum. He wrote: “The design is uncertain in its import, because the significations are widely at variance with each other.”
It’s a darn good thing that we are all blessed with intuition and can move beyond recitations of the Little White Book!
OK, I’ll stop digressing now.
Page of Wands, gotta love that youthful energy. New leadership, new plans, new young members of the group. The future is bright indeed.
This won’t publish until well after the meeting has concluded, and everyone has returned home.
If something unexpected happens, that was not reflected in the cards, I’ll update this post. Especially if someone does end up stealing my wallet!
Update:
Everyone has returned home, I think that the meeting was a success. The next twelve months look bright. I think that the Six of Cups was an accurate symbol for it.
But, the Seven of Swords remains interesting. Confidence, as I mentioned earlier, yeah, I suppose that could still apply. But, while my wallet did remain, something did go missing that was soon recovered. So, perhaps…
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, Tarot Works. That seven proves it.
In every group there is someone who is not fully aligned with the group’s energy. I’ll interpret something like that for the seven of spades
Francis Bacon is known for one liners, “Opportunity makes a thief”, perhaps opportunity is the word.
7 of swords can also imply strategy and cunning, and overcoming obstacles as well.
