Mystery demands patience and respect. It invites to "something" but makes no specific promises. What we find when we plumb these depths, if we ever do, more about ourselves.
Thanks for this. I appreciate the perspective and agree, ultimately we learn (or can learn, I suppose that many don't) about ourselves. And I have to believe that doing just that is a huge part of why we are here, perhaps the primary reason we are here.
I love old neighborhoods like the one you described; I live in one myself in our smallish town.
Comparing the tarot major arcana to Egyptian deities, I might to compare the High Priestess so Isis, especially her role in magic and initiation through the mysteries. There's the temptation to place her as the Empress being the great mother, but I tend to put Hathor in that position. The fit isn't going to be perfect, to be fair.
I live in the historic core of an old, small city. It could be beautiful with trees like this, but it isn't. The city seems keen on chopping down neighborhood trees if they start to buckle the sidewalks. In my view, it's pretty sad.
I think that I too would go with relating the High Priestess to Isis, but have very little knowledge about the Egyptian deities, nothing beyond the most basic surface level, so I wouldn't be confident with any correspondences I came up with.
Queen Anne neighbourhood? I'm looking for a house in Seattle, so if you can recommend that neighbourhood you liked, I'd appreciate it - it sounds perfect.
The Empress, and to a different extent, the 9 of Pentacles, are my cards.
Oh yes I know Wallingford too. When I was stationed at McChord AFB back in the early 80s I used to drive around those neighbourhoods because they were so pretty. The lots are small though, and I need something big enough to have a garden. Something about 1/3 acre would be about right. I might have to look out on the peninsula for that.
Yep, they are small, and that of course results in parking being difficult too, as there is very little room for off street parking. Beautiful though.
The Peninsula is really amazing. We love the north Peninsula, everything from Quilcene to Port Angeles. We've seriously considered moving there someday, and have friends who have done so.
I really appreciate the way you articulate the evocations the cards elicit for you. I often struggle to bridge the "known" with the "felt" and reading your descriptions of various cards has helped me to connect a few dots I have been mulling over.
Thanks! I'm glad that these posts are helpful to you. I understand what you are referring to with the 'known' and 'felt.' I guess I look at it as coming to the card(s) with knowledge gained through study, but then there is always the feeling in the moment as well. Somehow those get blended together.
I will have to keep cracking at it then. Perhaps I will pick up some runes here too, might be easier with the motor skill issues. I am hoping to get a laser cutter since the little lady said I am not allow to have sharp pointy objects these days...

Queen Anne is mighty nice too, but my favorite, and the one I wrote about here is Wallingford.
Not bad cards at all, the Empress and the 9 of Pentacles.
