Now that I’ve done a review of a Majors only deck, I thought that I should pass along at least a couple of spreads that I find to work very well when using only the Majors.
Perhaps most often, I use a three card open spread with only the Majors.
By ‘open spread’ I mean that the positions within the spread do not have predetermined meanings. Rather I read the positions based on intuition, the direction the figures in the cards might be facing, or whatever else I understand to be correct when looking at the cards as they are laid out.
In the example spread above, I asked about an upcoming party. Luckily not a party that I’m hosting!
In reading the spread, I see that someone is going to become very angry at the party. They will either go off and home to seethe quietly, or they will explode, ruining the party for everyone. Which course they choose seems up to chance at this point.
But…
Tarot is not fortune telling.
What I mean by that is that Tarot does not predict a future that is set in stone. Rather it tells us what is most likely to happen, given the circumstances and energies at the present moment. Freewill always exists, we can change what we see.
So if we want to make sure that tonight’s party is a success and that no one goes away unhappy, we can do that. We can make sure that everyone feels welcome and honored to be there. We can make sure that conflicts aren’t allowed to develop. That is a wonderful power of the Tarot.
